We take on a variety of outdoor projects for our clients, from simple container plantings to custom living walls and large-scale garden construction.

Forest Avenue, Hillsborough, CA

This project was a collaboration with Terra Ferma Landscapes, who built the greater landscape for this residence. We wanted to make a focal point at the end of the pool that would become an art piece within the landscape. The wall is in full sun, so we had the opportunity to arrange succulents, dichondra, and armeria in color block form. When the oscularia and armeria bloom, a dazzling pink compliments the surrounding silver-green hues.

14th Street, San Francisco, CA

The 14th Street vertical garden project is a colorful and playful addition the the streetscape of the Mission District, an area known for it murals and street art in San Francisco. We brought the front facade of the building to life with a 30' by 40' garden. The wall faces South, giving us an opportunity to use a plant palate full of color and flowers, which in turn attracted humming birds and butterflies back to the concrete jungle. One unique feature of this design is the 4000 liter water collection tank under the garage that captures the rain falling off the roof and uses it to water the plants. This project was a collaboration between Brandon Pruett and Amanda Goldberg from Planted Design.

This project received a Platinum International Plantscape Award by AmericanHort in their "Design" category. Photos by Jason Jackson.

Mission Rooftop, San Francisco, CA

We were asked to transform a barren rooftop into a relaxing garden oasis. Oftentimes, city life — with its excitement and convenience — forces us to trade away natural spaces. Here, we wanted to bring back some greenery, joining the trend of turning rooftops into usable green space. The plant palate consists of olives, agaves, grasses and succulents, making this vacant area into a verdant habitat filled with beautiful, blooming plants.

Batch & Brine, Lafayette, CA

Restaurant redesign project, using succulents and colorful plants to construct 7 custom vertical gardens that encircle the building.

41st Avenue, San Francisco, CA

Starting from a blank slate, we built a gentle sloping garden in the Sunset district. We made the space into three terraces, with a hot tub, arbor, fire pit, fencing, built-in benches and a meadow, featuring an angular steel staircase with grass treads that transitions from the upper patios to the lower meadow.

Air Plant Wall, Marin, CA

Brandon wanted to create a unique vertical garden to take advantage of an existing wire frame around an outdoor shower. So he mounted a colorful assortment of tillandsia on the metal framework to make a beautiful living composition. Created by Brandon while at Living Green Design.

Noe Valley Vertical Garden, San Francisco, CA

As part of an extensive remodel, architects carved out a space in a for an indoor-outdoor room — four walls and no roof. Two walls are glass and look into the house, and the other two we covered with plants. The space provides a unique, wind-protected area for relaxing, yoga, sipping coffee, and more, all while being surrounded by greenery. Created by Brandon while at Living Green Design.

Greystone Terrace, San Francisco, CA

This is a project Brandon has been working on piece by piece over 8 years. It’s a living laboratory, a study on a unique microclimate in SF: an east-facing slope with no irrigation. All the plants have to be self-sustaining, able to survive off the fog. To achieve this, Brandon used a variety of plants accented with grevillea and ceanothus.
